Gifting Yourself Good Vibes: 10 Ways to Energise Your Winter
It's no secret that winter can be a difficult time for a lot of us, leaving us feeling anxious and stressed. Well, never fear, because we've got your back! Here, we'll show you 10 ways to gift yourself some good vibes- and keep the winter blues at bay.
Ready, set, let's get energised!
Get out in nature:
Spending time in nature every day, even for a few minutes, can help boost your mood and energy levels. Take time to notice the sounds, feel the air, take in the sights, and enjoy the natural beauty around you. This can make a big difference in how you feel. 🌿
Exercise:
Yes, we know, exercise can sometimes be the last thing you feel like doing when you're feeling low on energy. However, exercise is a great way to boost energy and mood during winter. Even just a gentle stroll around the park can help. My morning habit is to stretch and then dance to a high energy song for three minutes, followed by a walk. This helps me reach my 30 minute exercise goal each day. 💪
Connect with friends and family:
Staying connected with your loved ones is important for your mental and emotional wellbeing, so take the time to reach out to your support network to feel supported and loved, it can be a simple call, video, sms or WhatsApp message - If you don't have a network, find one - Facebook support groups can be helpful, don't be an island! 🤗
Make time for yourself:
Schedule in some "me time" for yourself every day, even if it's just 5 minutes. This can be used to do something you enjoy, such as reading, listening to music, or taking a relaxing shower. Taking care of yourself is important, so make sure you do something that makes you feel good.📖
Get creative:
Creative activities like writing, drawing, crafting, and cooking can be great ways to relax and de-stress. Taking photographs or making wreaths are some of my favourite activities, and they can help you appreciate the beauty of the world around you. Don't be afraid to explore your creativity and make time for it in your life as taking the time to explore your creative side can help you feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. ✍️
Practice gratitude:
To shift your mindset and focus on the positive, practice gratitude every day. Take a few minutes to think about the things you're thankful for, and you'll notice your mood and energy levels improve. As an exercise, take a breath and say one thing you're grateful for. 🙏
Get enough sleep:
Getting enough sleep is essential for mental and emotional wellbeing. Aim for 7-8 hours per night and try to switch off screens an hour before bed, avoid caffeine in the afternoon, and create a relaxing bedtime routine if you have trouble sleeping. Mine is 1 hour long and includes brushing teeth, playing a relaxing game on my phone, and listening to a calm audio book with a timer set for 30 minutes.😴
Eat healthier:
Eating healthily in the winter can be challenging, but with a little planning and creativity it can be done. Make a plan for the week and focus on whole foods, practice mindful portion sizes, and get creative with leftovers. When willpower is low make sure your snacks are healthy such as trail mix, and I can't stress how important water is, drink, drink, drink. 🍎
Take a break:
Taking a break from your routine can be a great way to clear your head and recharge your batteries. Whether it's a long weekend away, a spa day or just a few hours to yourself, taking some time to relax and do something new or rejuvenating will help you reduce stress and gain perspective. You deserve it! 👳
Help others:
The best way to feel good is to do something good for someone else, so at this time of year, consider reaching out to someone and seeing if they need help. This could be volunteering your time, donating to a charity, or simply doing a good deed for a friend or stranger. It will help to make you feel more connected, purposeful, and positive. 💙
We hope you find these tips helpful in finding your own personal way to unwind and enjoy the winter season, and get a little energy boost.
